Hocus Pocus; Spell Book a Guide to Spells, Potions, and Hexes for the Aspiring Salem Witch
For this book, I will also include both movies as well. The first movie is a cult classic, and the movie has made a comeback recently with another movie. I am going to say this is a book that everyone should have and read multiple times. At least those who are die-hard fans of the movie and want one to have on their bookshelves, or if you are a Witch/Wiccan, you can have it on your altar as something fun. I plan on having mine near my altar as well.
So the rating; I am giving this five out of five stars for this book. I love the way the book was put together. The reader feels like they were part of the journey of the Sanderson sisters from the time they started their journey till the day they stole the soul of a child. It is a hardback book which I love. Paperback books are good, and I have a lot of books in paperback, but they don't last as long. the illustrations throughout the book are well done, and even though you can tell it is a digital artwork, they went the extra mile and made it look like it was hand drawn.
Pros; first and foremost, whoever made the reader feel like they are part of the journey should get a reward for a job well done. They included some interesting information about the gods, the devil, crystals, and many other things which can be found in the community. It is fantasy and is about how to be an evil witch, but I like that they included some information that is a little factual, not all the way, but they had to make the book fit what the Sanderson sisters would have had in their book.
Cons; The only con I really have is the ending. The final page is only one "notebook" page which I do not like because it does not give you enough space to write. Also, there is some confusing information that is talked about in the first movie and the book. I am not going to give away spoilers, but Winnifred received the book from Satan himself but is countermanded in the book and second movie.
This is the book to get I love how it was put together and how they brought us as the reader into the story of the Sanderson sisters. I would recommend this for the older generation and the younger generation of people who grew up and are growing up to the movie Hocus Pocus.
The movies are awesome I love watching the first every Halloween my favorite character is Sarah Sanderson she is a fun character and I am in love with her dress. Mary is goofy, but still an interesting character, and there is Winnifred I think she is everyone's favorite because her lines are quoted everywhere. The second one does have some differences and the actress who played them before are older, but I still loved that they made a strong comeback for all the people who grew up with the movies.
